Yesterday, I was driving by Annabessacook in Monmouth and stopped and saw a couple of old friends seining shiners. These two guys have more than a hundred years experience of netting shiners and smelts between them.
It was great talking with them for a few minutes. They said the water was cooling down nicely and that they were getting some bait, but weren’t happy with their catch so far.
I guess you could say the season has started.
