Here’s some information on a few upcoming derbies in the area…

The Dexter Fish and Game Associations Annual Ice Fishing Derby will take place Saturday January 15th and Sunday January 16th, 2011 on Lake Wassookeag in Dexter, Maine. Registration starts at 5:45 AM on Saturday January 15th. The entree fee is $10.00 and includes an arm’s length of raffle tickets ($5 for just the tickets and no registration). Prizes will include trophies and cash for largest togue, salmon, bass, pickerel and brook trout, as well as trophies and cash for the most yellow perch by kids under 16 years of age. The Seventh Annual Horne Pond Ice Fishing Derby will take place in Limington, ME on January 22. The derby raises money to benefit Camp Sunshine, a retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. The derby also benefits the organization Ice Fishing 4 a Cause, an organization that promotes healthy outdoor activities for children, as well as ice fishing education and safety. The Second Annual Square Pond Fishing Derby
